About the COZIL Travel Grants

The LSA Committee on LGBTQ+ [Z] in Linguistics (COZIL) offers travel grants to support attendance at the LSA Annual Meeting for LGBTQ+ individuals and those interested in the study of Lavender linguistics.
 
(Note: this award is contingent on EC approval of the committee’s annual budget request)

Eligibility

• Applicants for this award must be:
  • Current students, enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in linguistics or a related field,
  • Members of the LSA,
  • Members of an LGBTQ+ community, defined broadly to include anyone who is not heterosexual and cisgender, and those interested in the study of Lavender linguistics.
• Any student may apply, regardless of whether they have an accepted abstract at the conference.
• Awardees must commit to attending the LSA meeting in person for four days, and will be expected to join the COZIL committee meeting.

Timeline

• Nomination closes at 11:59 PM (PT) on July 15, 2026.
• Decisions will be announced in mid-September to allow awardees enough time to make travel plans.

Selection

The Committee on LGBTQ+ [Z] in Linguistics (COZIL) reviews nominations and makes recommendations to the Executive Committee, which must formally approve the recommendations.
