The Linguistic Society of America, founded in 1924, is a scholarly membership society for linguists and other interested individuals. LSA members include students, faculty, and linguists working in practice settings including the government, non-profit organizations, and industry.
The mission of LSA is to advance the scientific study of language.  LSA plays a critical role in supporting and disseminating linguistic scholarship to linguists and to the general public for the advancement of knowledge and the betterment of society.
