Closed Committees
Committees play a vital role in advancing the LSA’s mission by bringing fresh ideas, engaging members, and supporting key areas of the organization’s work. Closed committees are generally smaller, task-focused committees that handle essential elements of the life of the Society, such as Annual Meeting planning, audits, departmental support, and oversight for publications.
Membership in closed committees is determined by the Executive Committee. Individuals interested in serving on a closed committee are invited to submit an expression of interest form. Scholars from groups traditionally underrepresented in the LSA are especially encouraged to apply. While you can express interest in serving at any time, forms are reviewed in the early Fall, with invitations issued prior to the Annual Meeting. While expressing interest does not guarantee appointment, all applicants will receive a personal response.
