Background

This SIG was proposed and developed by the first cohort of the NSF-sponsored Faculty Learning Community (FLC) on SoTL in Linguistics. The first meeting of the SIG was held during the 2020 LSA Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

Mission

The Special Interest Group on Scholarly Teaching in Linguistics provides opportunities for linguists to share, create, and disseminate information about scholarly teaching and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) in the field of linguistics by:

  • Enabling more efficient communication and organization between the LSA’s teaching-focused committees (Linguistics in the School Curriculum, Linguistics in Higher Education) and initiatives.
  • Providing resources and training for linguists on teaching.
  • Supporting linguists in the development and publication of SoTL projects.
  • Collaborating with teaching-focused LSA committees to propose and develop programming at LSA meetings and sponsored institutes such as networking events, workshops, and organized sessions.

These efforts support the LSA’s mission and its commitment to community building and professional development.

Leadership
