Gifts and Endowments
Historically, contributions from LSA members have made it possible to support a wide range of activities designed to promote the discipline of linguistics and to assist linguists--especially student members--in the exercise of their profession. These donations have funded various committee-based projects that include educational initiatives geared towards primary and secondary schools, general educational and lobbying efforts, and membership assistance to linguists and libraries from countries experiencing extreme economic hardship. Recently, gifts have allowed us to design and develop a new website, purchase new computer equipment for the Secretariat, and endow the newly established Ken Hale Professorship for Field Methods Linguistic Institutes. Individual gifts are recognized on the LSA website and in the LSA Bulletin.
