2009 LSA Annual Meeting Organized Sessions
Directions for Submission of Proposals
Deadline for receipt of preliminary proposal: Tuesday 15 April 2008, 5:00 p.m. EDT.
It is strongly suggested (although not required) that organizers submit a preliminary proposal by April 15th. This will help the Program Committee to provide substantial feedback. Acceptance of organized sessions is becoming more competitive, and submission of a preliminary proposal increases the chances that organizers will be able to submit a successful final proposal by the August 1st final deadline.
Deadline for receipt of final proposal: Friday, 1 August 2008, 5:00 p.m. EDT.
Proposals submitted after the August 1 final deadline will not be considered.
Session Content: Organized sessions typically involve more than one scholar and are expected to make a distinctive and creative contribution to the meeting.
Possible Session Formats
- Symposia: several presentations on a single topic;
- Workshops: a specific theme or issue;
- Tutorials: intensive instruction in some subfield of linguistics or a related field;
- Colloquia: a major presentation with one or more invited discussants;
- Sessions of any other kind with a clear, specific and coherent rationale.
Requirements for Submission
The organizers must supply the information on the Organized Session Submittal Form, which may be downloaded from the
LSA web site. [Click here

Organized session proposals must be submitted as e-mail attachments to David Robinson, Director of membership and Meetings at the LSA Secretariat (drobinson@lsadc.org), with the words "Organized Session Proposal" in the subject line.
