2007 Annual Meeting: Brief Report

The 81st Annual Meeting of the Linguistic Society was held 4-7 January 2007 at the Hilton Anaheim, CA. The LSA was joined by the American Dialect Society, the American Name Society, and the North American Association for the History of the Language Sciences, the Society for Pidgin and Creole Linguistics, and the Society for the Study of the Indigenous Languages of the Americas. Approximately 1075 linguists attended over 100 sessions. Highlights of the program included Sally McConnell-Ginet's Presidential Address and plenary presentations by Ed Keenan, Mark Liberman, and Carol Padden. A special feature of this year's program was a session, organized by Ellen Kaisse and Larry Hyman, entitled "Phonology: An Appraisal of the Field in 2007."
