Congratulations

Joan Bresnan (Stanford U) was elected to the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Joan Bybee (U NM) was awarded the 49th Annual Research Award, the highest honor for research and creative activity the university can bestow on faculty. Daniel Dinnsen (IN U) was named a Chancellor's Professor, acknowledging his local, national, and international distinction in teaching, in research, and in the interaction between teaching and research. Paul Fallon (Howard U) received a faculty research award from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Jane Hill (U AZ) was awarded the Viking Prize by the Wenner-Gren Foundation. Elissa L. Newport (U Rochester) was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. John Ohala (UC-Berkeley) has retired. David J. Silva (U TX-Arlington) was awarded a three-month fieldwork fellowship by the Korean Foundation.
