The Ken Hale Chair: A Progress Report

Responses to the request for contributions to the Hale Chair fund, published in the March 2005 LSA Bulletin, have been very generous. As of 30 April, 141 members and friends had contributed over $60,000. This permitted the Society to apply for the first two installments of the NEH/NSF Challenge Grant Funds. Further, at their meeting in early May, the Officers and Executive Committee determined that everyone who contributes $500.00 or more by 31 July 2005 will be deemed a Founding Donor. Please consider supporting this important cause and joining your friends and colleagues as Founding Donors.

You are cordially invited to attend the first Ken Hale Lecture, which will be presented by Mary Laughren, David Nash, and Jane Simpson at 2005 LSA Linguistic Institute on Sunday, 10 July 2005 at MIT. The 2:00 PM lecture will be followed by a reception.
